PoHS Norway


Norway's Prohibition on Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer products ( PoHS ). PoHS covers almost all consumer products, such as clothing, bags, construction, toys, etc.; with a few exceptions, such as food Food packaging, fertilizers, medical devices and cigarettes, as well as means of transport, fixtures on means of transport, tires and similar means of transport accessories.


In 2007, Norway notified the WTO of its request to ban 18 specific hazardous substances in consumer products. However, in August 2008, the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) collected feedback and reduced the 18 banned chemicals to 10, with the following 10 controlled substances:

Specifically indicate products that require flame retardants and for which there are no suitable alternatives for the time being.
