Introduction to Accreditation

SAA is the abbreviation of Standards Association of Australia (SA), the standards setting body in Australia, which was renamed Standards Australia International Limited (SAI) in 1999. SAI is an independent joint stock company, not directly related to the government. We often refer to Australian certification as SAA certification, but in fact SAA is only a standard-setting body and does not issue certificates of product certification. At present, there are 43 certification bodies qualified to receive applications for certification, and the following are just some of them.

After one of the above certification acceptance body issued a certificate, hit the certification company abbreviation code and registration number is the "security label", such as "N12345", said the certificate issued by the NSW, registration number is "12345". Safety certification does not have a certification mark, not the logo of the issuing body in the label. The certification number needs to be typed on the label.

The Australian standard starts with "AS", and the joint standard between Australia and New Zealand starts with "AS/NZS". The Australian standard and the New Zealand standard are basically the same as the IEC, while there are some national differences. Australia and New Zealand promote the unification of standards and mutual recognition of certification, products can be sold in another country after obtaining certification in one country. Australian safety certification covers six continents in Australia.

Product range SAA certification control products can be divided into mandatory electronic products and non-mandatory electronic products of two kinds.

1, mandatory products (Declared Electrical Products) covers 56 categories of products, such as external power supply or charger, wires, plugs, appliances (60335-2-9, -14, 15, -23, -80), lamps and lanterns (60598-2-4), etc.. Control class appliances must be mandatory to obtain a certificate of approval issued by the monitoring department (certificate of approval), that is, SAA certification, and the provisions of the logo (must be typed on the certificate number).

2, non-compulsory products (Non-Declared Electrical Products), referring to products other than mandatory certification, such as commercial kitchen appliances. Although non-regulated products are not mandatory to obtain certification, but its safety by the seller / manufacturer is responsible for, can voluntarily apply for certification. Monitoring department will comply with the standard requirements of the product issued a certificate of compliance (Certificate of Suitability). The certificate of compliance can be obtained by marking the certificate number on the electrical products, the certificate good last letter shows the certificate issued by the state or region.

Application process

1、Customers prepare samples and submit information to Waltek

2、Waltek laboratory for testing

3、Testing report and information submitted to the issuing agency

4、Issuing agency will issue the SAA certificate after the documents are reviewed and approved.
