Indoor Air Monitoring

The results of numerous foreign studies have shown that indoor air pollution can cause "pathogenic building syndrome" (BBS), symptoms include headaches, eye, nose and throat discomfort, dry cough, dry and itchy skin, dizziness, nausea, difficulty concentrating and sensitivity to odors. Building-related illness (BRI), symptoms include cough, tightness in the chest, fever chills and muscle pain.

People spend about 70% of their lives indoors, inhaling 12 cubic meters of air per person per day, and urban dwellers spend about 70%-90% of their time in various indoor environments every day. You can imagine how important indoor air testing is to human health. A scientific study by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency shows that indoor air is generally 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor, and in special cases can reach 100 times. The National Academy of Sciences estimates that the annual U.S. medical costs due to indoor air pollution are about $15 billion to $100 billion. Indoor air pollution has been attributed as one of the five categories of environmental factors that endanger public health.

Toxic substances in home furnishing materials are an important source of indoor air pollution. The relevant state departments have conducted a sample of indoor decoration materials, the results show that the materials with toxic gas pollution accounted for 68%, the volatile more than 300 kinds of toxic substances once into the home, that will cause a variety of diseases.

In recent years harmful to the health of the decoration of pollution, has caused a global increase in population morbidity and mortality. The reason for this is that the building materials used in new and reconstructed buildings contain harmful substances and seriously exceed the standards, and the poor quality of construction will cause air pollution in the indoor environment. Toxic air pollution in people's daily work and living environment can cause laryngitis, chest tightness, dizziness, loss of vision, skin blistering and so on. In serious cases, it can affect the immune system, cause blood diseases and other serious diseases, and even cause cancer.

Therefore, it is necessary to conduct indoor environmental testing. Scientific testing methods can enable owners to know whether the decorated environment meets environmental protection requirements in order to avoid the risk of environmental pollution and enable them to effectively treat and rectify the unqualified air quality in a timely manner in order to live and live in a good environment with confidence.

Indoor air testing process

1、Telephone consultation or online consultation, to determine the testing program, testing time and testing costs.

2, the room to be tested before the door needs to be closed for 1 hour (GB 50325-2020 standard requirements, generally for construction, decoration acceptance, etc.) or 12 hours (GB/T18883-2002 standard requirements, generally for home testing), the appointment to test, the business staff will call to confirm.

3、Professional inspectors will come to the door to sample, answer the environmental questions raised by customers on site, introduce the testing process and precautions, and provide customers with relevant supporting materials.

4、The testing fee will be collected on site.

5、The collected samples will be brought to the laboratory for analysis, 3-5 working days out of the test report, such as customers have special requirements can be raised with the sampling staff, we will arrange for advance at our discretion.

6, for each test report customers have the right to request the test personnel to interpret, if necessary, to put forward governance advice and recommendations for reference.

Indoor air testing should be done before the preparatory work

According to GB 50325-2020 "Code for the control of indoor environmental pollution in civil construction projects" standard test preparation

The first condition of air testing should be allowed only after seven days of renovation. Seven days is to protect the interests of the builder, because the material itself will have a rapid release period after the renovation, rapid release period after the general into a relatively stable phase, and then start testing.

For each testing project will have different testing conditions, such as closing windows and doors for more than an hour or more than 24 hours, there are differences, and there is a full ventilation before closing the doors and windows, that is, the original accumulated pollution gases are released, otherwise a long-term accumulation will cause data increase.

Civil building projects in the indoor environment of formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) concentration detection, when

For civil building projects with centralized air conditioning, the test should be conducted under the condition of normal operation of air conditioning; for civil building projects with natural ventilation, the test should be conducted immediately after the doors and windows are closed for 1h; for radon concentration test, the test should be conducted after the doors and windows are closed for 24h.

Preparation for testing according to GB/T18883-2002 Indoor Air Quality Standard Close the doors and windows for 12 hours before sampling, close the doors and windows during sampling, during the period of closing the doors and windows, do not smoke, spray air freshener and other items with aromatic smell indoors, smoking and aromatic items may superimpose the concentration of indoor pollutants, which will cause the detection data to increase.
