REACH-SVHC

REACH is the abbreviation of the EU Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REGULATION concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals).

SVHC (Substances of very high concern) is a class of substances controlled under REACH. Since 2008, when ECHA announced the first batch of 15 SVHC, there are more than 20 batches of SVHC and more than 200 substances. If SVHC is contained in the product, it is necessary to fulfill the corresponding obligations.

1、If the article contains substances of very high concern (i.e. SVHC) and the content is less than 0.1%, there is no need to notify and take the initiative to transmit information, but if the importer or consumer requests, it is obliged to provide relevant information.

2、If the article contains SVHC and the content is greater than 0.1%, and the annual export volume is less than 1 ton, the downstream importer must be informed and relevant information must be transmitted, and relevant supporting documents must be issued to explain that the transmission of information usually includes SDS safety number table, etc.

3、If the article contains SVHC and the content is greater than 0.1%, while the annual export volume is greater than 1 ton, the notification work must be carried out to ECHA.

4. Upon request by the consumer, all suppliers of the article should provide the consumer with sufficient information available to them to make the article safe for use within 45 days of receipt of the request. This information includes, at a minimum, the name of the substance.
